Podcasting giant SiriusXM, which has partnerships with shows like ‘Pod Save America,’ ‘Hidden Brain’ and ‘Office Ladies’, is leading other networks when it comes to presence on the podcast charts.
Analysis by Podbam has revealed the American Company has a commercial agreement with 26 of the Top 100 Podcasts on Triton Digital’s latest US rankings – more than any other sales network.
The top show in its network, Pod Save America, was number eight on the latest chart, which ranks the top podcasts by weekly average downloads for October 2023.
The chart below shows the other SiriusXM Podcasts that made the Top 100, with ‘Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend’ also in the Top 10.

“SiriusXM has executed an aggressive acquisition strategy and seems to have a sixth sense for picking what resonates with audiences,” said Joan Unay, content manager at Podbam.
“The Podcasting advertising industry is changing rapidly, but this is one network that appears to be adapting well.”
The second most prominent network in the Triton Digital rankings list was Wondery, with 23 shows in the Top 100. They include the incredibly popular ‘Morbid’, which continues to win a legion of true-crime fans.

You will notice that world-leading shows, including ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, ‘This American Life’ and ‘Call Her Daddy’ don’t feature on the list. This is because their network, Spotify, does not have a data sharing agreement with Triton Digital.
Based on Google Search data, the aforementioned podcasts are likely the most popular in the United States at the time of publication.
SiriusXM and Spotify are currently locked in a podcasting war, with Sirius announcing a new $10-a-month streaming service earlier this month.
“While Spotify has immense reach, SiriusXM has demonstrated it can also give podcasters enviable exposure,” said Unay.
“If these latest podcast charts are any indicator, SiriusXM is poised to continue giving Spotify a run for its money as the premier podcast destination, even if the data doesn’t allow us to compare the two directly.”
It is also worth noting that SiriusXM’s sales organization, SXM Media, also has sales representation deals with other podcasts on the Top 100 list, including DatelineNBC and Crime Junkie, which rank first and second respectively. These deals were done with sales networks NBCUniversal News Group and SXM Media.
